A night ride with (a very fast!) Gary (I had to get off the bike three times to get my breath back, must learn to not try to keep up all the time (though possibly going for a ride so soon after two days off work with food poisoning was asking for trouble). The pause around 30-40 mins was for puncture repair job on Gary's rear tyre
A mostly road route (but with some bridleways - I wouldn't want to take a skinny road back on them). The final descent off the ridge down Wheatham Hill (at approx 26 miles) was lethally slippy with wet chalk. (also spent 20 mins at the start replacing worn out brake pads, just couldn't get the new ones, must remember to take small pliers in future!)
Clean run, no dabs. Felt good; a bit muddy in one or two places but mainly quite dry. Did the new 'downhill' zig-zags off the top of the 2nd loop, but found them very tight and slow, too slippy
(after doing the usual loops in QE Park) - Felt really good, not too difficult at all, but noticed on the way down a strong wind that maybe helped push me up the hill? Dry underfoot too
